The long-term trend is for the average American to receive more packages every year.
- The average American household received 167 packages in 2024, up 1.21% YoY.
- U.S. package deliveries totaled 165 parcels per household in 2023.
- Americans receive packages at a 52.4% higher rate than the global average.
- Parcels-per-person increased 1.54% from 2023 to 2024 (from 65 to 66 packages per person).
- The average cost per package was $9.08 in 2024, down 0.44% YoY.

The United States Postal Service ships the majority of parcels in the U.S. (7.3 billion in 2024).

- USPS package volume increased 2.82% from 2023 to 2024 and could total 7.84 billion shipments in 2026.

- 28.2% of all packages shipped in 2024 went through Amazon Logistics.
