About Zoysia Farms

The President of Zoysia Farm Nurseries can remember, as a young boy, walking the rows of zoysia grass test plots with his father at the Department of Agriculture farm in Beltsville, Maryland. His dad became convinced not only that this "miracle grass" would be the answer for America's lawns, but that he could sell it by mail to homeowners nationwide -- a revolutionary concept at the time.

The USDA and the US Golf Association released Meyer Z-52 zoysia for commercial development in 1951. By 1953, Zoysia Farm Nurseries became the first company to focus on zoysia for private lawns. A farm was purchased in Maryland and Amazoy zoysia grass was planted. The process of preparing, shipping and helping homeowners achieve optimum results with zoysia plugs were tested and perfected. Our passion to bring a beautiful low maintenance lawn to every homeowner had started.
